Moving to Bremen: Anmeldung, residence permit and first steps

Most people arriving in Bremen deal with the same handful of things in their first weeks: a place to live, registering that address, health insurance, a bank account, and — if you are not an EU citizen — a residence permit.

This page gathers what RechtX holds on the two offices behind those steps, with the official links and the date each entry was last checked. For the wider process, the guides and the personal plan walk through the order step by step.

How appointments work

You request an appointment through an online form

You cannot book the appointment yourself.

How to apply
For a first residence permit after entering with a visa, complete the 'Vordruck Terminvergabe Einreise' and send it by email to ref11@migrationsamt.bremen.de.
What happens next
The Migrationsamt sends the appointment to the contact details you gave. For a renewal, the authority normally requests documents before sending the appointment.
If the authority does not respond
For a first application, use the email route above. For a renewal, if you have had no letter one month before your permit expires, email office@migrationsamt.bremen.de.
